Camavinga’s Stance on Real Madrid Future
Eduardo Camavinga reportedly intends to remain at Real Madrid and compete for his position, rather than moving to Manchester United or another club. This information comes from football journalist Fabrizio Romano. Despite this, Real Madrid does not consider the France international an untouchable member of their squad.
Camavinga, who is also capable of playing as a left-back, is said to be interested in revitalizing his career under José Mourinho. He reportedly feels confident in his ability to earn the trust of the experienced manager during the upcoming season. Romano, as quoted by TeamTalk, stated on his YouTube channel that Camavinga wants to continue and play for Real Madrid next season.
The message from Camavinga, consistent since May, June, and July, indicates his desire to work under Mourinho and try to stay at Real Madrid to revive his career. He reportedly does not wish to leave the club.
Manchester United’s Midfield Search
Manchester United has been monitoring both Aurélien Tchouaméni and Camavinga from Real Madrid for some time. The club is seeking to add a third midfielder to its squad but is reportedly unwilling to spend excessively, regardless of a player’s influence or skill. Consequently, both French players have been actively tracked by the Red Devils.
Before engaging with the agents of AS Roma midfielder Manu Koné, United had also held discussions with Camavinga’s agents to understand his situation. Romano noted that United had conversations with Camavinga’s agents to assess the player’s status, and similar discussions occurred with Koné’s agents weeks prior. United is still in search of a defensive midfielder.
According to one report, United has narrowed its midfield shortlist to three players, including Camavinga, Sander Berge, and Manu Koné, after unsuccessful attempts to sign Tchouaméni or Alex Scott. United has already strengthened its midfield this summer with the additions of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, with a combined expenditure of £85million. The club’s current aim is to secure a hardworking midfielder to complete their squad restructuring in that area.
While Tchouaméni was initially considered a primary target, reports regarding his availability conflict. One report suggests Real Madrid might sell Tchouaméni, leading United to make a new inquiry. However, Romano indicates that Madrid has rejected United’s approaches for the 26-year-old, as they intend to retain him by finalizing a new contract.
United also approached Bournemouth for Scott, and received encouragement when he rejected a new deal from his current club. However, Bournemouth maintains that Scott is not for sale this summer, regardless of his contract status. These developments have reportedly led to Camavinga, Berge, and Koné emerging as targets for Michael Carrick’s team.
Among these three players, INEOS reportedly shows particular interest in Camavinga, Tchouaméni’s teammate at Madrid, and Fulham’s Berge.
Potential Transfer Scenarios
While Camavinga ideally prefers to stay at the Bernabeu, a recent update suggests that Madrid might consider selling him to create space for Rodri in their squad. Real Madrid has already signed Bernardo Silva and could potentially reunite him with his former Manchester City teammate Rodri, reportedly at Mourinho’s request.
Real Madrid is reportedly open to selling Camavinga for a fee between €50-60m (£42-51m). However, the ultimate decision on Camavinga’s future rests on whether Mourinho desires the midfielder. If Real Madrid decides to offload the player, the situation would change significantly.
Should Camavinga’s departure become certain, the Premier League could become his next destination, with United potentially becoming a frontrunner. Romano believes it is almost certain that Real Madrid will not make a decision regarding their player until closer to the transfer deadline.
United has a long-standing interest in Berge, having previously observed his performances at Sheffield United and later Burnley. The Norwegian midfielder is reportedly available for £40m. French newspaper L’Equipe recently reported that United officials have contacted Roma regarding Koné, who was part of France’s World Cup squad alongside Tchouaméni. An update from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport states that the Red Devils have agreed personal terms with Koné. United is reportedly preparing an initial bid of €50m/£42m, while Roma is seeking €60m/£51m.
